You Thrive Paratransit is Hernando County’s designated Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC), providing safe, efficient, cost-effective, and quality transportation services for transportation-disadvantaged citizens of Hernando County. You Thrive Paratransit has been providing transportation services in Hernando County since 1978 and has been the designated CTC in the county since 2000.

Veteran Ride Program

You Thrive Paratransit is proud to offer a reduced fare of $1.00 each way to our veterans and their families.  As part of our mission to promote self-sufficiency for individuals and families in the communities in which they live, You Thrive Paratransit extends this special service to veterans and their spouses who provide proof of service.

 

 

About The Program

Who Is Eligible?

The elderly, physically and developmentally challenged, economically/transportation disadvantaged residents of Hernando County. Applicants must complete a service application (see below for online application). You Thrive Paratransit does not discriminate based on race, color, or national origin. Funding

You Thrive Paratransit is supported with funding provided by the Florida Department of Transportation, the State of Florida Commission for Transportation Disadvantaged, and private donations.

Services Available

You Thrive Paratransit provides door-to-door transportation services primarily to meet medical and nutritional needs, and provide access to shopping; however, trips to banks, hairdressers, hospital/nursing homes, etc., may also be provided when seating is available. You Thrive Paratransit is a shared ride system, operating on a two-hour window. Ambulatory and wheelchair transportation is available (all vehicles are wheelchair and ADA-accessible). Drivers are not permitted to enter homes and can only offer an arm for assistance. One escort is permitted for medical appointments. Services require an application to be completed and on file (see below for online application). Once the application has been processed, reservations can be placed by calling 352-799-1510 by Noon the business day prior to the scheduled transportation. Scheduling hours are Monday – Friday between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm.  Trips can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance for medical appointments.

All applications for services must be filled out completely and include the required documents in order to be processed. Incomplete applications will be denied. Please read this important information before submitting an application for assistance.

Documents needed for assistance include:
• Valid photo identification for all household members 18 years of age and older
• Electric bill for each month requesting payment (if you do not have copies of your electric bill for each month you are past due, contact your energy supplier or create a login account on their website to obtain them)
• Social Security cards (for all household members)
• Birth certificates for all children living in the household
• Proof of income (any income received – i.e. child support, cash assistance, etc.)
• SNAP (food stamp) award or denial letter. and
• Lease (if applicable).

You Thrive Paratransit staff will never ask clients for personal information to “update You Thrive Paratransit payroll records” as part of the application process. If you receive an email with this request please contact us immediately to report the request.
